Stephen Ucembe

Stephen Ucembe has a background in social work, child development, and social policy for development, and brings over 15 years of experience in child care and protection. He currently serves as Regional Advocacy Manager at Hope and Homes for Children and as the organization’s Kenya Representative.

In his role, Stephen works to influence laws, regulations, and standards on child care and protection at national, regional, and international levels. His earlier work focused on supporting separated and unaccompanied children, as well as families and children affected by HIV/AIDS.

Stephen also draws on his own lived experience of care to engage in national and global conversations that highlight and elevate the voices of people with lived care experience, ensuring they are recognized in decision-making and supported in their well-being.
