Are donations tax deductible in Australia?

Yes. As of March 2014, donations are fully tax deductible in Australia. Receipts are provided immediately via email from Givenow.

What guarantees are there that my money is reaching Kickstart Kids International’s projects?

Donations are transferred from Kickstart Kids International in Donations are transferred from Kickstart Kids International in Australia and UK to our development partner Nanga Organization in Kenya. From there, Kickstart’s funds are applied directly to approved development projects. Kickstart receives confirmations of all transfers to ensure that all the money reaches its intended purpose. Nanga Org is a registered Kenyan NGO (non government development organisation) that has been established to ensure the local community have an active role in the decision making process. Kickstart’s founder, James Woodward, also sits on the Nanga Org board of Trustees. For more information on Nanga Organization click here. On an annual basis, independent audits are curried out for Kickstart Kids International Limited in Australia, Kickstart Kids International (UK) and Nanga Organization in Kenya. The financial records of Nanga Organization are maintained by KPMG Kenya. Members of Kickstart’s Australian and UK teams visit Kenya frequently to monitor and support the work of Nanga Organisation. Kickstart keeps in daily contact with our Kenyan team, working together in true partnership. Currently, Kickstart’s founder visits Olturoto Children’s Village at least once a quarter. Travel costs of Kickstart’s Australian team are not funded by donations.

How do I donate from other European countries?

To enable our supporters in Europe to donate towards our work in Kenya, Kickstart Kids International (UK) has an arrangement in place with Transnational Giving Europe. TGE covers 16 countries and is at a European level the only existing practical solution to support a beneficiary located in a foreign country with all the tax advantages in the country of residence of the donor. How much of donated funds go directly to Kenya and how much is spent on administration?

100% of your donations to Kickstart Kids International in Australia go directly to support our work in Kenya. Currently, our primary fundraising focus is the construction of our second orphanage initiative, Olturoto Children’s Village. To lead by example, the management team of Kickstart Kids International in Australia has pledged to cover 100% of the administration expenses incurred to run the Australian organisation. This is to ensure that all your donations will make it to Kenya.

How do I donate from Australia?

Online credit card donations – Kickstart Kids International have partnered with GiveNow (a Westpac Banking Corporation community initiative) which charges no fees to process online donations and is a secure online donation option. For more information click here. Donate via cheque – If you would like to send a cheque please make it payable to Kickstart Kids International and send it to PO Box 90, Crows Nest NSW 1585 Australia. Donations are fully tax deductible.

How do I donate from the UK?

Online credit card donations in the UK can be process through BT Giving. Kickstart Kids International (UK) is endorsed for Gift Aid.
